The Cottage Grove Historical Society is a non-profit society of volunteers with membership open to all who meet to learn more about protecting our local cultural heritage. The mission of the Cottage Grove Historical Society is to preserve and celebrate the history and heritage of the Cottage Grove area and to stimulate interest and knowledge for generations to come.
The Cottage Grove Genealogical Society
The Cottage Grove Genealogical Society was organized February 10, 1975 to promote and stimulate interest in genealogy and to collect and preserve genealogical and historical information, especially that pertaining to Cottage Grove and the surrounding areas. Our research library is open to the public and contains over 5,000 books including family histories, county histories, atlases, research aids, resource records along with many rolls of microfilm and microfiche.
Located inside the former Boots and Sandals Square Dance Barn (the Red Barn), just across from Bohemia Park. The museum is a living and expanding memorial to all miners, and to the history of gold mining activities in the Bohemia Mining District. The museum’s unique collection of photographs, tools, ore samples, and other artifacts pays tribute to the area’s gold mining history.
This is the official website for the City of Cottage Grove Oregon. We are known as the"Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon". Six of the covered bridges in Lane County are located in or around the City of Cottage Grove; Centennial Bridge, Chambers Railroad Bridge (the only remaining covered railroad bridge in Oregon - recently restored), Currin Bridge, Dorena Bridge, Mosby Creek Bridge and Stewart Bridge. The Lane County History Museum was created to collect, preserve and interpret Lane County's rich heritage. It is the only county-wide historical museum in Lane County. Lane County was a destination point for emigrants crossing the Oregon Trail in the mid-1800s. The museum houses collections of national and local significance dating from the early 1800s to the present.
The Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber's number one goal is to create a strong local economy. All of the programs and benefits supported by the Chamber go toward achieving that goal. The Chamber is also committed to the entire community and supports the economic growth and vitality of the Cottage Grove area.
